"Space Bug" pen and ink
Ok, I admit it. This is a pretty direct copy of a 1995 "Discover" magazine cover. (Not a trace-over though!) I don't have the magazine any more, so I can't give the photographer proper credit. The photograph was of a near-microscopic creature which spends it's life clinging to a sand grain. I changed the scale quite a bit, but the truth is really even stranger than the fiction I think.
